Caring for the Green Lizard

There are two types of Iguanas, Green Iguana and the Lesser Antillean Iguana. The Green Iguana is the type that is commonly kept as a pet.

Iguanas live in tropical rain forests where they find lots of water. Most of the time they are found in tree canopies, high above ground.

Iguanas eat both plant and animals, so they are called omnivores. Most of the time they eat leaves and fruits, but sometimes they eat eggs and insects. When kept as pets, they should never be fed animal food. They might get sick or die. Pet stores may sell Iguana food, but you should give them fresh fruits and vegetables.
