The Life of The Spider Monkey

Spider monkeys live in tropical forests from southern Mexico to Brazil. Today, the monkeys are threatened by habitat destruction, becaue people are cutting down trees to build homes. they are the most intelligent New World Monkeys. They call them spider monkeys because they have long arms and legs.
They are very flexible and they live in groups of 15 to 25 monkeys. The baby monkey clings on the mother's belly in the first four monts of life, later they cling on her back untill they are ready to go alone.
The female spider monkey is much more active than the male. These monkeys do not have a thumb, but they scratch themselves with their hands and feet. The mother grooms her babies.
Spider monkeys eat mostly fruits, they eat the seeds along with it. They also eat leaves, insects,
flowers, and worm larvae.
