Hairy Creatures


Tarantula is the common name for large hairy spiders. There are many species of these large insects; about 900 have been discovered worldwide. Despite their spider look, theses hairy insects do not spin web.

The diet of these special spiders is mainly insects. Tarantulas are nocturnal creatures Big tarantulas can eat big animals such as mice, birds and lizards. They can kill by injecting poison using their fangs.

Lots of tarantulas are not harmful to humans. Although some can be poisonous, and some can give an allergic reaction that requires medical help. Tarantulas have spiky and irritating hair to help it keep enemies and predators away.

Some people have tarantulas as pets, they are good to keep around apartments because they are well behaved and do not smell. Tarantula owners feed their hairy pets small living animals such as fish and small mice.
